Error(s) in current data base

Postby BobLarkin » 27 Jul 2010 07:32

I was recently using WXTide32 (ver 4.7) to time my passage through Port Townsend Canal, in Northwest Washington state, USA. My trip through the canal went fine, but the observed current did not agree with the program predictions. Tracking this down, I believe the time offsets in the program have the wrong sign. They show +0:40 and +0:31 when the NOAA listings show the same times with minus signs. My experience agrees with the NOAA offsets! In looking at other stations in that region, many, but not all have sign differences. Can somebody confirm this? Do I have out of date files, perhaps? How can this be corrected in general.

I might note that the several Point Wilson entries in that same area seem to have errors (except 1.4 mi NE) and those are a region of heavy tidal rips.

Thanks, Bob
