Minute by Minute text output

Postby craleigh » 07 May 2011 00:24

Hello,
I help to manage a ctd, which captures occasional tsunami signatures.

I would love to be able to compute predicted tide stage, output by the minute.
With this we can subtract the tidal profile and resolve the actual tsunami.

Thanks in advance!

Leaving aside the practicality of actually doing this (and I wouldn't have a clue), is WXTide32 accurate enough for your purposes? It does come with a disclaimer regarding accuracy:

Do not rely on the output of this program for decisions that can result in harm to any person or property. There is no way to provide certified data on a zero budget so if you need guaranteed results then WXTide32 is not for you.

For example, WXTide32 predicts the next high tide in Blyth to be 13:32 and 4.5m, whereas the Admiralty's Easy Tide predicts 13:16 and 4.6m.

WXTide's accuracy is certainly good enough for my purposes, and I've been using it for years (mucho kudos to mmmike - thank you, Sir!) but you will have to make your own decision.

I am not quite sure what you are asking, but have you tried using the "Incremental Tides" option? That outputs computed tide data at any given interval which can be single minutes.

If you want more than a day or so of minute-by-minute data, you might try using the batch commands -increment (to send tide levels) and -textfile (to pipe output to a file). See the help file for details on these and other batch commands.
